MGt 625 GDB Solution

Answer:

Istly People resistance to change is irrational response as It is a basic tenet of human behavior that any belief or value that has been previously successful in meeting needs serve as resistance to change as people feel irrationally that value or belief to be vital for them. This applies even if there are better more successful alternatives to meet those needs.

2ndly Also people feel irrationally that their needs are at risk during change processes such as security, money, pride and satisfaction, responsibility, authority, good working condition status etc. So whenever a change is perceived as creating some threat to the employee having his/her needs met the more likely resistance they show regardless of importance of change.

3rdly other factors that mobilize people into resisting in irrational way as any changes from a status quo happens, those include: status quo is working fine, proposed change does more harm than good, lack of respect for person responsible for the change, objectionable way of implementing the change, negative attitude towards the organization before the change no opportunity to have input into change, change perceived as implying personal criticism, change simply adds more work and confusion, change requires more effort than to keep status quo, bad timing of change etc happen. In such situatiion people confuse and began to resist changing process thinking above things more important than change.

4hly when people are faced with ambiguous or uncertain situations, where they feel they do not know what to expect, they will resist moving into those situations. In other words, if people don't know what is to come, they get antsy, and resistive.

So Resistance to change is irrational one, takes many forms. The obvious forms are where people object or refuse to cooperate with the change. Other, forms of resistance, however, are more difficult to deal with. Understanding of why people resist change is very helpful because understanding this allows to plan strategies to reduce resistance from the beginning. It is very important that the change manager must anticipate this irrational response, and plan strategies for dealing with resistance not only necessary at the introduction of the change but also must be follow-through, so that the process change must be completed.

Due to above quoted reasons one can say response of resistance to change is irrational one.
